Just have a look! Over the last term we have worked hard at learning how to sew. We used hessian material and sewed with a needle that had a very big eye. We used lots of different coloured wool. The first stitches, like running stitch, were really easy to do. But chain stitch and some of the other ones, were a bit harder. We had to learn how to do nine stitches altogether, then we could choose to do three of our sewing rows again. At the bottom of our sewing we ruled a name box with chalk and wrote our name in the box. We sewed around the box and also on our name.
When our sewing was all finished, Mrs Calder asked her daughter to back it. Dacron (like stiff white cotton wool) and calico were sewed on the back by machine. Finally two loops were sewn on the top. Now you are welcome to look at our fantastic wall display. We will take our sewing home to keep, at the end of the year.
